Welcome to Elemental Villages! We are a small group of ordinary people dedicated to an extraordinary quality of life. We believe in warm, caring relationships within our small community, and also patience with people when they're grumpy, troubled, or recovering from trauma. Almost everyone has past trauma that needs a healthful environment to integrate into a better future. We eat nourishing food, grow it ourselves when we can, make art, laugh at ourselves, share adventures, and build trust with honest communication and a weekly community meeting.
We generate a variety of income streams onsite so that some of us can work from home. This can be campground operations, shopkeeping, caregiving, or farming. Some people work offsite, some are retired or managing a disability or grief.
Modern American culture dictates that shared housing is kid stuff. We disagree. We think it's mature and ambitious to live with other people who don't necessarily share our bloodline (or other fluids). Learning the types of boundaries needed to live well together ensures that MORE people have MORE places to live. In today's America (and in today's Vermont, where we are the 2nd most unhoused population per capita), this is a vital objective.
